Larchmont Scenes for Desktop Screens - 2005

Photo by Charles Seton: Click here for full-size image

(December 30, 2004) If you do something two years in a row is it an annual tradition? If so, the Larchmont Gazette is following a tradition begun last year of posting images that display the beauty of Larchmont. The photos are formatted so our readers can copy them for use as computer-screen images (see directions below)

The Gazette is inspired by Edward Albee who said in 1922, "I feel safe in saying that there is no spot along the entire Sound, on either side, that equals the beauty of Larchmont." If your computer desktop is in need of a bit of beautification at this point in the year, feel free to add one of the images below.

To set a Larchmont photo as your desktop screen image, select an image and click on it to see the full-size version. Then right-click on the full-size image and select "set as background" from the drop-down menu. More detailed instructions are at the bottom of this page.

These images are for your personal use ONLY. They are not to be resold or used in any commercial manner without written permission of the artist. Please contact the Larchmont Gazette or the artist directly to get permission.

Happy New Year from the Larchmont Gazette!

The following are instructions as to how to set one of these images as your desktop background.

For Windows Users...

  1. Select an image and click on it to see the full-size image.

  2. The image will open in the browser window. Right-click on the image and choose "Set as wallpaper." or "Set as Background."

  3. If the image seems too large or too small, right-click on your screen desktop, select properties, then select desktop, and set the "position" option to "stretch." This makes the picture fit the size of your screen.

For Macintosh Users... (OS 8.0 - 9.x)

  1. Select an image and click on it to see the full-size image.

  2. The image will open in the browser window. Click on the image and hold down the button until a menu pops up. Select Save this image as... from the menu to save the image to a location on your hard drive. Remember this location.

  3. Choose Control Panel from the Apple menu, and select Appearance (or Desktop Pictures if you're not using OS 8.5 or higher).

  3. Open System Preferences from the Dock or Apple menu and click on Desktop. In the Collections drop-down, choose Pictures folder if you saved the background there. Otherwise select Choose Folder and browse to the folder where you saved the image. Drag the image into the well to set it as your background
