Pastel Exhibit Warms the Sheldrake Environmental Center
from the Sheldrake Environmental Center

(January 18, 2007) While Sheldrake’s pond and cove now display the grays and browns of winter, pastels by John B. Conroy show them in their colorful summer and autumn colors. Visitors to the Sheldrake Environmental Center this month can view both the natural and the artistic scenes. An exhibit of Mr. Conroy’s works will be on display until March 19.

From his studio in Rye Brook, NY, Mr. Conroy specializes in fine art pastel paintings and limited print reproductions. His work focuses on landscapes and seascapes, in addition to portrait commissions. The vision and primary focus of his paintings is to bring his subjects to life supported by the elements of light and color and to create a particular mood and feeling with composition and value.
Mr. Conroy’s work has been featured recently at the Larchmont Library. He teaches Pastel Painting at Mamaroneck High School's Continuing Education program. He is a member of the Mamaroneck Artists' Guild, the Old Greenwich Arts Society, the Greenwich Arts Council and the Community Arts Association in New Jersey. He is also the treasurer and membership chairman of the Connecticut Pastel Society.
