Chatsworth Carnival Crowd Undaunted By Rains

(May 18, 2008) The rains held off long enough to allow
most of the Chatsworth Elementary School Carnival to take place on the
playground as planned on Sunday, May 17. And even when it started to rain
hard at around 3:45, most people didn't mind; they just moved indoors
for the Talent Show.
"It went well -- I can really say that with a straight
face," said Lisa Gennetian, the PTA chairperson for the carnival.
The proceeds were still being counted, but she was able to report, "We
definitely broke even." The funds will go into the PTA treasury to
help with financing scholarships, upgrading technology, and implementing
a range of programs to enhance academic achievement.
"The event is for fun as well as for fundraising and
we achieved both goals," said Ms. Gennetian. She had a "big
thank you" for the community and local businesses, for their support
of the event, and for the high school Key Club members and art students
who pitched in. When the rains shut down the outdoor rides, "people
stayed. It was really remarkable," she said.
