U-10 Mustangs Score Perfect Soccer Record
From the U-10 Mustangs
(June 28, 2008) After three seasons together, the Mamaroneck
Mustangs U-10 girls travel soccer team ended their spring season not only
undefeated, but without having a single goal scored against them. According
to their coach, Christie Derrico, “the Mustangs’ success can
be attributed to the athleticism and dedication of the players, who must
commit to two tough practices a week.” She also praised “their
ability to work together as a team -- assists are just as important as
the ultimate goals.”
There have been setbacks, Ms. Derrico noted, including one key player
who broke her arm in the first game last season. But she came back strong,
and though the team lost a couple of players, their replacements “have
melded into the team seamlessly.”
Ms. Derrico and her co-coach, Carmela Casas, led the players through
their 9-game season this spring and look forward to the fall match-ups.
