(January 15, 2009) An idea from two moms has become an annual event for all moms. Three years ago, Colette Rodbell and Wendy Weinstein Karp, who juggle raising children and running their businesses, joined forces and created an event for fun, fashion, food and fundraising. The result was Beauty and the Feast, a winter luncheon at Plates Restaurant profiling spring beauty and runway trends with proceeds benefiting a cause - this year the Westchester Children’s Museum.

“We thought if we could profile my clothes in her restaurant, we’d really have good synergy and provide an escape from the cold and snow,” said Ms. Rodbell, who is area development manger for ETC., a direct-selling fashion company with an exclusive collection of modern clothing. “The event has been growing each year, and we all have a good time – and a good meal," added Ms. Weinstein Karp, who owns Plates Restaurant in Larchmont with her husband, Chef Matthew Karp,

In addition to fashion and food, the event will raise funds for the Westchester Children’s Museum, scheduled to open in the fall of 2010 on the boardwalk at Rye Playland. Corrine Zola, president of The WCM commented, “At this time when the museum is operating as a ‘museum without walls’ we are appreciative of the efforts and interest of the community to support our campaign to establish this vibrant new learning center.”

Beauty and The Feast costs $50 to attend and profiles the clothes of ETC. with input from Manhattan stylist Kalyn Johnson, as well as cosmetics from Pink on Palmer, haircare by Giselle’s Salon, and gift bag goodies from Groove Performing Arts.
