MARGARET BRITTEN NEUMANN
Margaret Britten Neumann, 91, of Rancho Santa Fe died December
4th. She was a long term resident of Larchmont. She was born
in Gothenborg Sweden in 1914. She came to the United States
in 1917 with her parents. Within a few years, she learned
English and won a poetry contest published in the New York
Newspapers. She was an avid swing dancer in the 1930's dancing
at Glen Island with the Big Bands. She attended New Rochelle
High School. Margaret graduated from the Mount Vernon School
of Nursing in 1935 with an RN Degree. She remained in her
profession into her 70's. She was well known for her skill
and kind loving care.
Margaret was the daughter of Henry C. Lundgren and Esther Lundgren of New Rochelle.
Her parents, two brothers Eric and Edgar and sister, Britten, predecease her.
Margaret married Charles William Neumann in 1940. They lived in New Rochelle and
Larchmont New York. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Neumann,
son Eric , and daughter Patricia. Survivors include daughter Barbara Beals of Rye,
New York and her granddaughter Britten; daughter Dr. Nancy M. Robinson and
son-in-law David Robinson of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. and grandsons, David and Robert.
The last eight years were spent in California. Complications from diabetes limited
her mobility. She motivated others to see beauty through photography. Her
photographs won her recognition throughout the county. She received a standing
ovation and special award for her work in the San Diego Union Tribune Nature and Eye
Photography Contest. She displayed her work in many exhibitions. She will be
remembered for her kindness and talent. She was well known in her community for
leadership in helping the needy.
Margaret was a member of the Larchmont Ave. Presbyterian Church. A memorial service
will be held at the Larchmont Ave. Church, Larchmont, on Friday, December 16th,
10:00 am.
